Update on volunteer Elise

Occupational Therapist volunteer Elise has now been in Gorkha for one week and after the  initial ‘overwhelming’ and scary experience, Elise is now feeling settled with her host family of Mother and daughter who together with our Gorkha committee are looking after her and showing much kindness.

The mornings are spent working in the physiotherapy outpatient clinic at Gorkha District Hospital where she has been assisting with orthopedic patients and helping where possible including stroke patients. She is also helping with exercises for our special friend and Headmaster Laxman who suffered a frightening stroke last year.

Elise has been with Sarita to a school Hygiene programme funded by GDS and will be meeting the disabled children at a local school to see what help can be provided.
