Gorkha Hospital Celebrates 50 Years.
From humble beginnings and the introduction of western practices and medicine to support local health, the 50 bed facility has become an integral part of the expanding town providing services to the vast area of Gorkha District.
Since the founding of GDS and GDHEDS in 1988, we are proud to have had links with the hospital through donations of medical equipment and hygiene programmes, as well as enabling medical students to undertake elective placements.
More recently with destruction of much of the hospital in the 2015 earthquake, blankets, wheelchairs and other necessities were funded. As Covid reached Nepal, we were able to fund requests for PPE for doctors and oxygen concentrators to help patients. We are pleased to strengthen our links further as the new building is completed and the hospital celebrates 50 years.
