Mr Hook – 100 today – congratulations from GDS

GDS and friends in Nepal would like to send our very best wishes to Mr Ron Hook on this very special day celebrating his 100th Birthday. Mr Hook has been a long term friend of GDS and currently sponsors education for 19 children in Gorkha from ages 12 to 20 in both school and the local Campus. His support, enthusiasm and interest in all we do is amazing with regular letters which help inspire us and the children he sponsors.

Mr Hook was born in London and remembers clearly the devastation of the war years. He trained as an engineer and together with his lovely wife Isobel live near Colchester in Essex. He heard the founder of GDS Joy talking on the radio in 1990 and offered his skills as an engineer to help local planning of services in Gorkha. Though he has never visited Nepal his warmth for the people and the culture is clear and has even started to learn Nepali!
