Occupational Therapy in Gorkha working with Hospital Physiotherapy
Post 2 –Elise Kearle – After meeting Badri and the Doctors I spent every morning in the outpatient department at Gorkha District Hospital assisting the physiotherapists deliver treatments, and found processes and conditions very different to Australia. They called in about three stroke patients while I was there,
One 66-year old patient was very eager to attend therapy and improve his upper limb function. Using materials I had taken we continued specific exercises and before I left the patient told the physiotherapist that he was experiencing less pain and was finding it easier to catch objects with two hands which was really rewarding to hear and really made me feel like I was helping people in Gorkha
