Loss of GDS friend and supporter

May 30, 2022

We are saddened to report that our dear friend Mr Ron Hook passed away recently at the age of 101. Ron had great enthusiasm for Nepal but had never visited! He first offered his support as an engineer about 30 years ago when he helped with a proposal to provide a water tap to a rural village at Phanam. The project was a great success. He helped support  Manoj, Geeta and Amir on their arrival in the UK and was even Amir’s Best Man! In recent years Ron and his wife Isabel have provided education funding for 20 children up to Bachelors level with £1200 gifted each year, and developed great relations with Laxman and the children he supported through letters. Mr Hook will be sadly missed by all.
