The inaugural meeting of the women's group at Syaulibazaar is pictured below. This is at a village near Gorkha where almost all, except two school teachers, are illiterate. The 64 members of the women's group each paid a fee of 10 Rupees ($0.02) and signed the register with a thumb print. Their greatest desire is for literacy classes to learn to read and write for themselves. |
